When I got in my car to leave work last night, I noticed my shifter was very loose and had a lot of play compared to earlier in the day. It will shift into gear but there is a lot of play from left to right. I'm hoping this is an easy fix because I have heard it could be as simple as tightening a bolt. Any help is appreciated.

You've probably already sorted this, but if you haven't, I suppose it is possible. The short shifter thread has some pictures of the internals of the shifter you might be able to see what's going on.

Although, from my install of a short shifter, I don't recall many bolts...
