Whatsup guys. In the middle of building my evo x engine. Had a couple questions regarding the parts I've selected for my build and would love for some more experienced guys to offer their opinion. Ok here goes...

Manley turbo tuff rods PN 14409-

Pistons?

Darton MID wet sleeves

Supertech M1015 valve spring kit

ARP rod bolts and head studs

ETS 6262 turbo kit

walbro 450 fuel pump

FIC 1000cc injectors

Meth kit

Stock head, stock crank, and stock cam shafts

I do have a set of Wössner pistons that were given to me with the purchase of the car but I am selling them because I can't find much info on them and some people more experienced than I have voiced their concerns with them. My questions to you guys is, which pistons should I go for? Looking to make the engine internals capable of holding around 1,000 whp but I do not ever plan on going that high. Just want to build the motor once that way it is one and done in case I ever decide I want to up the ante. Also given my build sheet, at what power level will my stock cams begin to restrict me? And given the choice of pistons what power level would y'all be comfortable with pushing this motor? Wiseco, JE, or CP pistons will be fine. I would put GSC S1 cams in it. Your connecting rods should come with bolts, no need to buy separately.


Also, I would use a lighter weight connecting rod. Like Carillo.

Thanks man. Currently looking at CP pistons, but I think I'm going to keep my rods they may be a little heavier but I beams are tough.

I'd put money on the Carillo Pro-H being just as strong the Manley Turbo tuff. There ar other Ibeams out there as well that are ligher. Oliver is the first one that comes to mind. And Pauter has an Xbeam rod that is strong as well. You won't be pushing the limits of any of these rods with a 6262, so you might as well go with lighter weight for better performance and parts longevity.


Whatever pistons you get, make sure you get heavy duty wrist pistons, at least .225 wall.

Carrillo Pro-H have no problems with 800whp and are way lighter than the turbo tuffs.

Like letsgetthisdone stated, make sure you get HD wrist pins.

For Carrillo stuff, here are the part #'s from my build:

Hell yes that's what I need! Part numbers! Thanks budd! I'm assuming those wristpins are heavy duty... and I was going to stick with 9.0:1... how much of a difference does 10:1 compression make?

yes those are the HD pins. The second number in the part number is the thickness.

I'm running 10:1 because I use E85.

Yes I would vote for Carrillo or Wiseco, but if you have money than Cosworth hands down.
I am always trying to not miss match the brands. so the pistons and rods etc I would buy from a same company.
