New Comp Clutch Stage 3 Issue With First Gear

New competition clutch stage 3. Two days after the install I noticed a new problem. It being difficult to engage first from a stop at a light. Usually on a cold start, it goes in first smooth. It can be difficult to engage 1st and second on a downshift. Second isn't as tough on the downshift but always is smooth on the upshift. The rest of the gears feel normal. I have about 900 miles on the new clutch now with the issue repeating. Car is running 75W140 NS GL-5 Redline gear oil. I asked if the thickness of the oil is the issue and was assured that the cause isn't the oil. A couple days ago the car was driven and I was told it feels like the clutch isn't fully releasing. Anyone else go through this issue and how was it resolved?

stage 3 full face segmented ceramic street/strip series 2600. 5153-2600

Get the GL5 75w140 out of the trans, and fire whoever told you to run that. At the thickest, you should be running redline MT90 or similar. I have found the X trans shifts the best with redline MT85, or Amsoil 75w90 Manual trans fluid (GL4)

I will be trying the Amsoil 75w90. I have used it before and it interacted well with my trans. I do wonder if the 75w140NS is the culprit but I won't surely know since my clutch is going to be swapped out. I am lucky that I chose to go with Competition Clutch. They really stand behind their product and are working with my shop to get this issue resolved. There is speculation that the clutch isn't releasing right and or engaging correctly. I can't say enough good things about Competition Clutch and how willing they are to stand behind their product. Amazing!

Also about the oil. The shop that is doing work on my car is very well known for their quality work and their track accomplishments. They definitely do know what they are doing. This is what puzzles me. They have been using this gear oil exclusively for a bit now. You would think that other people would be reporting issues. They do Evo clutches left and right. Their guys can do em with their eyes closed they do them with such regularity. The shop was built on the DSM / Evo platform. This leaves me puzzled. Soon however my car will have a clutch swapped out with Amsoil 75w90 gear oil and I hope that my car will be back to it's enjoyable self.

If anyone is wondering about what clutch to go with. I can't say enough great things about Competition Clutch. They stand behind their product so much that I will always look to Competition Clutch for my clutch solution.

Make sure you use the 75w90 manual trans fluid, NOT gear oil. Gear oil is too thick and won't shift well.

Manual Transmission & Transaxle Gear Lube 75W-90. Should be the correct one.

I'd bleed the system a little more. Can't hurt. Maybe the clutch isn't fully disengaging..
I use Redline MT-90. Might be a little thick in the cold weather, but once warm it's fine.
