I've been detailing cars here and there for the past five years, and never once have I seen factory paint so damn thin! I was doing a light buff on the paint on my aero spoiler...and what happens? My paint gets burned! This is factory paint, mind you! My custom paint shop can do better than this!

Now I gotta go see if it can be blended...I really don't want to paint the entire rear spoiler...*sigh*

The paint on the X is actually more thin than on the VIII's and the IX's. Someone used a micrometer to do the readings.

Mitsu is notorious for bad paint on all their vehicles. The X is no exception.

i don't think i've ever seen a mitsu that had good paint after 6 years aside from cars that have had a complete re-spray...my 1g DSM is no exception!

Just wait until you look at the point where the rear bumper meets the rear quarter. The paint peels like a bad nail polish job.

My 98 Eclipse GST had one of the more durable paint jobs I've ever had.

Maybe it's Japanese paint that is bad because my wife had a new 2002 Mazda Protege 5 and the hood was so chipped after two years that it was rusting and her Civic before that was horrible as well.

Meanwhile my 2005 SRT-4 had really good paint as I could count the rock chips on one hand after a couple of years owning it.
