Has anyone used Walmart's Supertech brand synthetic oil?
I did a search but got no results.
The oil is quite a bit cheaper than other brands. I don't mind paying extra for quality, but I DO mind paying extra for a brand name if there is no added quality in that brand.
I am going to try this in my wife's car but was curious about using it in the Evo.

Evos are not cheap cars so i dont know y you would want to skimp on an important part of the car!
this is not a car that you want to put garbage in instead of a quality proven product!
if u want to save money i suggest a honda!

No doubt. I read through everything wondering if there is a difference. I'd take a closer look at the bottle and see if you can see who manufactures it.

If you want to "pave" the way then you could test your oil that's in their now and document the mileage. You can send it in to be tested, switch to this other oil and run the same mileage on it and have it tested. You can buy the test kits for like 25 bucks.

I agree. I prefer the Amsoil synthetics (and run longer intervals) and run whatever is on sale in the beater. To answer your question, I wouldn't cut corners on motor oil in your X. Mobil 1 isn't much more than the Supertech synthetic if that's what you're looking to run.

He's not asking what everyone runs he is just wanting to know how it would compare to other synthetics. That's why a test would be in order to determine how it stacks up to the other oils.

i put walmart supertech in my lawn mower.
if you do , do a used oil analysis do it in your wifes car and at no greater intervals than 3000 since it is unknown how the oil performs. i just dont thinkits worth all the hassle for the $3-$8 that you save buying supertech vs mobil 1 (in the jug).

I'd start conservatively with a 3,000 mile usage, drain, test, and see what the labs say.
edit: I see someone already provided this response mid-thread. seconded!
