Most likely, no...But I think it depends on other conditions as well. With a cat converter though, it's more likely to have over boost condition. For future mods, why not just spend a lil more and have a boost controller installed anyway? EVC would make it safe for sure.

I have intake and tbe no cat and just put in apporiate map with my accessport, no one mentioned anything to me about over boosting should i be worried, and if i need a tune why did i bother with and accessport, im not logging or anything with it, just put in map and threw it in glove box.

Before I got my car tuned, I had a HFC but the car did overboosted. So if you planning just to do some mild mods, then get yourself a cat-back and an intake, you will have fun for a little while

That's the conclusion I came to when I opted for the ECU tuning method.

Except... you got it ***-backward. An "Off the Shelf" map will not compare with a "Pro Tune". Just won't. Look on the various forums for the gains from a professional tune. I suppose if you were swapping parts every weekend and you wanted to experiment with your "butt-Dyno", you could randomly flash maps and see how it felt.

For myself, the go-fast parts and the tune are being installed 1-2. I didn't see the point in paying upwards of $600 for a device that would only be used by a tuner once (or twice, if I upgrade turbo and cams and God-only-knows-what) - especially if I had to pay the tuner for his time and expertise, too. Unless Cobb Access Port tuners work for free? Nope, didn't think so.

What HFC did you have? Was it 100cell, 200/300? I'm thinking of a 300cell HFC with CBE as my first "real" performance mod and I'm curious how safe it would be to do this without a tune.

I do plan on getting tuned, I'm just curious if it would be risky with that kind of a setup. (not really trying to hijack the thread, it's mostly on topic..)
