dead car battery or FAST Key? Maybe both?

So this morning I go outside, the key fob unlocks my car, i try to start it and i get one click and all power goes out. I turn the iginition back to OFF and proceed to try again. Except this time it wont turn at all. LOCKED. I went to grab the second key to see if that helped.

I tried to lock and unlock the doors, turn on the headlights. Nothing, no power at all.

Then, I get the iginition to turn, lights come on, and I put the car in N in case i need to tow/move it. I try to start it again....nothing, just a click and all the lights go out.

I leave the ignition in ON, go to grab the actually key out of the fob, and magically all the lights come back on, I try to start the car and success it fires.

I drive it 3 miles to work, turn it off, and think I should try to start it again. Nothing, wont turn past OFF. LOCKED again.

In addition, I am sure the battery died becase the time reset on the Radio to 1am, but that fact that power came on and it started has me baffled.

Any suggestions?

I THINK having both fast keys in the car might be the problem.

I believe it's your FOBs. If they lose prgramming, they will not work for anything. Using your standard key that is inside the FOB worked which is why I believe it's the battery/programming. If your battery was dead or any of the connections were bad, you wouldn't have even been able to start to the car.

Try going to a dealership and having them reprogram the FOB. Should only cost about $25. It happened to me because I was keeping my keys in the same pocket as my iPhone and the signals emitted from my phone wiped the programming and I experienced the same problems as you.

Check your battery and charge level; there have been a number of very odd behaviors displayed by these cars when the battery is in a marginal condition.
