Timing Chain Issue 5k miles eh? 2012 Evo X
Just purchased a '12 Evo X 5,xxx miles. I drove 500 miles to pick the car up. On the way back I noticed the "Triangle of death" as most of you call it apparently. Is this a known issue this early on? Not sure how the previous owner drove but the car is damn near perfect from inside/out.
I'll be taking it to my local dealership tomorrow. I'm not sure how it's going to pan out I've only had it for 600-700 miles. I bought a extended warranty 7years/70k miles ontop of the factory warranty. I would appreciate any input maybe it just needs to be reset.
Thanks, Brandon.
Btw: Always wanted a Evo and went I get one It better not be a freaking Lemon! Lol

Well if it is it will be covered under warranty. But if the timing chain is acting up at 5k miles, then the previous owner must have dogged the heck out of it

Lol, Alright thanks. I was reading other threads some people say if it's off by %1 it will throw the code. But yet to find a estimated repair time on this. Any clue it's my daily driver.
Thanks, For the fast response!

I cant tell you I work at mitsubishi and as far as timing chains are concerned, They hate replacing them because they are expensive so if your doing it under warrantee they will try various other things to try and save money. In other words your DD might be out of commission for a while .

Judging from that pic, it's only the tpms that are missing. No big deal what so ever. I'd make fix it as they sold you a car that doesn't pass government regulations. (all cars must have TPMS now)

Edit 2... triangle comes up for all sorts of things. Hell just having your door slightly open will trigger it while driving. As will tpms not reading correctly, turning traction control to off-off, etc etc. This seems to only be related to your tpms
