Is anyone else having this headlight problem?

So I have a 2013 evo gsr with hid's. On my passenger side headlight where the small corner amber running light is the cover of the bulb broke where it clips in randomly and slid under the projector. I brought it to the dealership and they said they have never seen this problem before and warrantied the headlight out and replaced the whole headlight. The very next day after getting the passenger side replaced the drivers side did the same exact thing! It's at the dealership right now again and they said they have to do a "full inspection so they can get to the bottom of the problem".

Never seen that before, was curious to see if it was a flickering problem instead this is something new!

In the photo it looks as if it completely fractured but I can't wrap my mind around how it could have bounced so much to the extent that it failed!

Did you open the housing and do a retro fit or something? Cause if you never tinkered with the housing than you have an OEM issue I think.

I've taken my 2011 headlights apart, right to its pieces' and that part weighs very little and is certainly ridged enough to withstand vibration. Its just not long enough to 'bounce' if you understand what I mean.

Perhaps a very harsh speed bump that caused both to crack at the same time combined with some heat cycling delaying the symptom.

You had to have hit something. Or the factory did during the few mile "test drive" they do as part of that checklist.

Or just bad luck with a manufacturing defect. First I've heard I'm afraid.

I thought I was the only one. This happened to passenger side of my 13 a couple of months ago. Mine looks to be caused by the reflector's clip being warped by heat from the bulb. It was bouncing around loose in the head light housing, it's now lodged under the HD bulb like yours. I'll take mine in to be checked out an hopefully replaced.

I go over speed bumps VERY SLOW. I have never opened them up, and I take absolutely no back roads. The dealership had never seen this either. They said it is probably a "bad batch".

That's weird. Did they ever figure out what caused it?

They wont bother to find out why. Items like headlights are easily approved through warranty repair. Thats all the dealership will care about.
