royal purple gear oil

just had my drive line serviced at south coast, looked more closely at the invoice and noticed they used royal purple 75/140 gear oil for rear diff. Anybody know why they would use this oil instead of stock LSD from mitsubishi?

No clue but I'm not a fan of Royal purple personally. I would swap it out for Diaqueen or Motul.

Thanks for the advice. I have the eibach pro kit with sway bars, not installed
yet though. I have concerns if the bilstein struts can handle the drop.

I know people hate Royal Purple but I accidentally spilled the Diaqueen container last time so I had to run out to get more and Royal Purple was all they had. 15K on it so far and it's been fine. little notch when cold but shifts like butter when it's up to temp.

Probably because it's better than their own product - less notchy than the mitsu crap they use.

Diaqueen is not crap, really. There are other good substitutes, but be careful. Amsoil is a suitable oil that works well.

Almost 200k miles on Royal Purple 90w gear oil in center and rear diff, no issues. In my experience, the ACD light shows "active center diff torque transfer" quicker on RP than compared to Diaqueen, for whatever that's worth.

Didn't mean to offend anyone - sorry bro. Just my opinion. To each his own, right.

I used royal purple exclusively in my 6spd supra trans and had zero problems, royal purple is good at not adding additives and just making a pure oil. In my diff, I ran a much much thicker oil though that RP did not make. I wouldn' tworry about it, royal purple is full synthetic, certainly not the best stuff you can buy but it's good.
