12' Lancer GT Transformation to Evo X...
Hey everyone,
New to the Lancer world, or Mitsubishi world in general actually. Have a 2012 Lancer GT with the 2.4 MIVEC non turbo engine and the fwd flappy paddle tranny. I've had the curiosity floating around in my head lately about whether or not I should dive into the task of basically converting her over to an Evo X state. I've done some searching around on the evo drivetrain to see prices and get an idea of how costly the project would be, but I haven't really found much. Which tells me it hasn't been done much, if at all... Can anyone here offer some insight on this? I'd love to be able to retain the 2.4 I have now and turbo that, if possible?
Thanks

As far as my finances go, I couldn't afford the $600/month payments. Which is why I'm curious about going this (Gradual) route instead.

Road race motorsports have a video that might interest you if you haven't seen it.

But! It will never be an evo. Your car is FWD, you will find that your pouring money, time, hardwork, into a pretty big project that ultimately will still leave you disappointed if you persist to compare to an evo.
$600/month car payment would easily get you a used low mileage evo X.
Have you considered the ralliart? Its a great option, you can pick one up for 10grand cheaper than an evo and with some modifications get decent power. But again it will never be an evo more like an SE/GT on steroids.

If patience is the issue, I know it was for me, you can lease one for about half that payment and save up while you lease and then buy it out and mod it. You will lose about 3k in the lease to own system I'm sugtesting when compared to buying outright but you can be in an evo asap!

^all true.
Drive a MazdaSpeed 3 (or any other powerful turbo FWD car) and see if you like the 'torque steer' that is generated. Pin the gas. In a sharp turn. See if the understeer is acceptable. It just wasn't acceptable to me. The car doesn't turn - it just ploughs forward until stopped by an immovable object such as a tree or a fence...
Now go test drive an EVO X or Ralliart. Pin the gas. In a sharp turn. You'll quickly see what I mean. The car just turns. No drama. So I recommend you save the $$ and get an EVO X (or Ralliart) as your next car.

I am doing a full body kit on my evo in the next month or two. I would consider selling my parts to you at the right price. It would include front and rear bumper, hood, and front fenders. PM me if interested.
