how to turn off the 2 leds lights that shine down on to the cig lighters/tray?

As the title saids, I installed a wideband gauge there and the light from the havc are shining down on top of the gauge and its kinda annoying. Did know if anyone that has swap out for new color lights or anyone that has replace the light knows how to take it out or turn it off.

Thanks
D

You could just unplug them. There's a harness that goes into the back. Look for the short shifter/shift boot installation guides in the How To section to see how the console comes apart.

is the harness in the center console or do I have to take the havc controls out? How do you take the havc controls out?

No removal of the HVAC controls required.

unplugging the hvac will = no control over climate. As far as i am aware you cannot simply unplug a connector in the plug as all the hvac leds run off the same power source. You could simply put tape over it and the problem is solved. These bulbs do not come out or turn off as they are led's. Besides putting tape over the only solution is to a) accept it for what it is, or b) have the led removed. Maybe you would like a change of color and i can remove those lights for you while im at it? just a thought

I personally like the 08 cubby and open cop holders better then the 2010. Sure the 08 doesnt look as good compared to a lexus/benz/beemer then the 10's, but then again our cars arent meant to compete with luxury... they're meant for raw performance Also i feel that the 2010 cup holders can get quite annoying as i tend to throw stuff in there all the time such as my cell phone and rather not need to open them first . The loss of the cubby area under the hvac also leaves you with less room to toss stuff. Sure it looks better with the 2 little flip door, but you loss some space in exchange. Also not a fan of all the 2010 chrome. I guess in the end its different strokes for different folks

I just looked at some 2010 models. Couldn't find the LEDs lights like the 08 models. Where are the lights mounted? Guess I'll have to look when it's dark outside.

I'm still not sure if I'm gonna get the 2010 center console. Its just that I scratched the console a bit from an over zealous stereo install I can live with it though. I do think that the 2010 console looks better though (especially on an MR) , but what I would really love is the color center dash display.

there is two holes under the HVAC where the LED shines through. Just grab 2 piece of electrical tape and put it over the two holes (you can feel) and that's it.

You can't "unplug" it's all linked to the light that lights ups your knobs for HVAC.

EDIT...FAIL, elementalcode said all that
