Question first Evo x oil change question

Hey everyone,

I don't know if this is the right place to post butI have a noob question here about my first Evo x oil change. After having done my oil change, I went to reset the counter and the counter shows me the next oil change is at 6400mile/6months. To me this does not look right or seem normal. Keep in mind that this is my first Evo and i know nothing about it yet. Also before my oil change my mileage is at 3,6xx. Any help/answer would be appreciated.

Thearin

I've heard about the first two oil changes having odd miles.. I haven't consulted my owners manual or the maintenance manual yet. I just hit 1000 miles

Thanks for your reply. Yea its shy off the 3k mark but I had my counter set to 5kmiles/5months before my oil change and its just trippin me out that it would only put up just about 3kmiles/6months which I was hoping to see another 5kmile/5months put on to it. Hopefully, it would correct itself. It's just bothersome to me since I'm **** about the little things. Although, I am keeping track for my next oil change on my own without relying on the on board computer.

you can adjust the the reminder to display diff mileage and months or have it completely turned off. Search and you'll find a thread about this, and how to adjust it.

I have already tried that method. Unfortunately, it still stays at 6400miles/6months.

Wouldn't u still rather change it at 3k miles instead of 5k?

did you change into different modes, from JPN, to EU, than back to USD ? Works always for me.

Im just use to changing my oil at the 5k interval. I'm also using Mobile 1 EP and those oil apparently can last you up to 15k mileage without an oil change so I will be fine at the 5k mark.

Hm... Haven't tried that yet. I just cleared from one usd to another. I'll have to try it later tonight since I'm at work and the evo is sitting in the garage.

Just tried your method and it still says 6400miles/6months. I even tried clearing it multiple times and it still shows up as that. Im pretty much out of ideas. Any other suggestions I should try?

Your turbine spins at 100k+ rpm. Dirty oil on a turbocharged car is not a good thing. I wouldn't trust the "extended protection." I use Mobil 1 EP and still change every 2500 miles. Better safe than sorry

I have to agree, i did 2 oil changes withing 3k miles, both times the oil was pure dirty/black. I did 1st oil change at 600 miles, and 2nd one at 2200 miles. I did expect it to be dirty, since the car was brand new.
