Headlight assembly painting
Hey guys so im planning to do an evox-r projector retrofit with a depo headlight soon. I was looking at several threads on how to paint the assembly, and it seems like it looks very nice. I noticed a lot of people are doing plasti-dip. I was wondering how safe this is, I mean the headlights must get very hot, and was wondering how well the plasti-dip holds up? When I hear plasti-dip, I think plastic which melts.
-Also anything else you guys do, like sand it down, primer, etc?
-How hard is it to get the whole thing apart. I feel like I wont have a problem with putting the projector on there, cause its only 4 bolts, but taking the whole headlight apart, sounds like there will be a lot of parts involved and special tools.

I did the plasti-dip mod to my headlights back in August of last year. It has held up with no issues at all. I put on 3 coats on and they haven't melted, faded, cracked etc. As far as prep goes for plasti-dip, the surface needs to be cleaned. Since the internals of the headlights are already clean, you should be good to go.
As far as taking them apart it requires use of your oven and simple tools in your garage. If you Google how to take evo X lights apart you'll find all the detailed step by step instructions. Having prior experience helps to get over that fear of putting them in your oven. I've done this mod to my s2k and evo 8, just takes some skill and patience.
