About the recommended tires sizes it really depends on the manufacterer quite a bit, and the "measured rim width" stat that tirerack has on their tire spec charts seems to be the natural width of the tire without forcing the sidewalls inward or outward. Most if not all 275mm wide tires list 9.5" as the measured rim width and then have a range that they can be used with such as 9 - 10" or 9.5 - 11", and the wheel width range seems to vary widely from brand to brand quite a bit as well.

Would a 18x8.5 with a 45 mm offset fit on the stock advans and have no issues rubbing? Sorry if this seems like a trivial question, I'm pretty clueless when it comes to wheel offsets.

Just a quick ?, I am sure that The Bridgestone Potenza RE 960 265/35 will fit on a stock GSR rim, my question is will it have minimum clearance from fenders? I have not lowered the car yet, but i am looking to add Tein lowering springs and I just dont want to have any issues. Also will the tires look bulky? Thanks guys!

Did anyone try to fit 285/30/18s A6 Hoosiers with the stock rims on the EVOX in front? If not 285s, how about 275s or even 255s (for some reason those two are the same width for both thread and section)?
Then, when crash bolts are flipped for additional degree of camber, how much does that affect space between the rim/tire and the strut/spring?

I believe that 295s (pretty much the same width as 285s which are a bit shorter) would still fit on the stock 8.5" wheel. Now, whether it will fit under the fender or have enough clearance on the strut side is another story...and apparently nobody has a good answer for this one...

Question: Buddy with an '07 STi might me selling his Enkei NT03's in 18x9.5 with a +40 offset. What would I need to run them? I know a 10mm spacer is needed in front for the +22 offset but was curious for the +40.

Since this is the "Fitment" thread, I wanted to pose a question for how can you see if your particular wheel is "too wide"? I bought an off brand, JWL cert, that are supposedly 18x9.5 ET25. I have not mounted tires on these -- dealer and MFR warnings everywhere that once I mount, I own. These also come in ET38.
When I have them on the car, the outer lip of the rim is directly below the fenders. They don't have any overlap with the fender. On the inside, they have a thumb-width, guessing about 15-16mm. I am nervous about going 13mm towards the inside because I do set my camber to the factory 1-2deg negative setting for spirited driving (HPDE, etc)
How can you tell you have good fitment on the outside without putting weight on the car?
