new GSR clunking over bumps

Hi Guys,

First I have rung the dealer so it will be checked ASAP.

But I wanted to get another opinion

Ok so when going over speed humps there is a noise that comes from the front suspension/engine bay.

It basically sounds like a clunk, does it 80% of the time, I have tried to work out if its left or right and I can't tell. Also it does it with the clutch IN OR OUT.. Brakes ON or OFF

Any ideas?

Cheers
D.

My car makes the same sounds when going over speed humps too, the faster I go over the hump the louder the sound gets, but I think it's normal as my friend's GSR makes the same sounds too.

mine does not do this. The dealers have forgotten to remove the shipping shims from the suspensions of some who have bought Evos this year. Check to make sure they have been removed.

Same issue here. I'll check the springs tomorrow. As mentioned, definitely audible if taking the speed bumps with any speed. I usually tend to crawl over them.

Does it do it when your braking, or turning hard. stock shocks/coilovers?

I used to have the same thing, its from the front passenger side. Changed it to coilovers and it was gone.

I believe its from the GSR's suspension as I didn't hear any sounds when I drove an X with Bilsteins.

Mine is a GSR and no sounds so not all cars have the issue.

I have the GSR and it makes the same clunking sounds on the passenger side only. I only notice it on harsh quick bumps.

bit of a bump... (excuse the pun)

so I took the car back to the dealer, they said the ball joint nuts were loose - supposedly tightened them up...

didn't do the alignment as I requested (since they made a change to the suspension)...

still clunks over speed humps or really big bumps..

also its both sides, as i took a bump slightly of centre and I heard two separate noises... seriously considering taking it to a real mechanic who knows evo's - but that will cost real money instead of warranty bollocks...
