Steering wheel shakes at high speeds after re-balance
I bought some new Rota Grids 18x.9.5 and had a set of Hankook EVO V12 tires mounted and balanced. At first I would get very bad shaking going 75+, so I had the front wheels re-balanced at sears and got a 4 wheel alignment (since the stock alignment eats tires), but that made no difference.
So I went back and had them re-balance the front wheels again, and then balanced the rear wheels at the same time which stopped maybe 80% of the vibrations. Currently, going above 75 results in visible steering wheel vibrations, rear view mirror slightly shaking, and can be seen if I place like a dunkin donuts coffee cup in the cup holder.
Going under 75 the shaking stops. I am using McGuard lugnuts, with hubcentric rings on all 4 wheels and the Rota centercaps...Anyone got any ideas?
tl;dr:
Bought New Rota Grids with hubcentric rings and McGuard splinedrive lugnuts
Steering wheel, rear view mirror and cup holder shake when going 75+
4 wheel alignment, all wheels re-balanced 3x and car still vibrates

Try a different garage. For tire M/B and alignments I only use shops with Hunter Tire and alignment machines.
I have the Hankook V12's which work great in the wet and dry especially for the $$

Try to get a road force balance (FIRESTONE shops have them around here). That will determine if it is the rim or the tire. Some tires are just out of round and need replaced. I recently had the same problem with some BRIDGESTONE tires on my SUV. I had 2 tires that were really out of spec replaced and that solved the vibration issues.
