They do appear to be a good tire, probably dry grip just under the Hankook R-S3 with better wet grip.

Who cares? Chris' speculations outweigh most people's experience.

I've just had a set delivered yesterday. Can't wait to get them on. I'm surprised they don't get more attention on these forums. It's Star Spec/RS3 or die.

Someone made a thread on these awhile back and got harrassed to death. They carry a mileage warranty.

have you had the Star Spec or RS3? I want to hear direct experience cause I'm interested in getting these tires, but I don't want to give up a lot in grip...

I have not. My closest comparison to those that I've owned would be Bridgestone RE01R's.

On another forum I'm on there are several that regularly track (not autox) their cars on these tires and are nothing short of absolutely pleased with them. They have insane wet grip, great dry traction, great communication and best of all reasonable wear rate. Michelin claims this tire is closer in grip level to the Pilot sport cups than the PS2's they replace. Those are R compound tires! Regardless, I'm pretty anxious to get them on and find out. I'll post an in depth review when I do.

Typical reaction in the thread was the compound is too hard to have exceptional grip.

I'm sure they're a great compromise and a good all around tire, but RS3 or Star Spec grip with a UTQG rating of 300 AA A seems unlikely. People race on RS3s and Star Specs for a reason: They win.

Those ratings are determined by the tire manufacturer though, they are not a true universal standard across brand lines.
