Can warped brake rotors cause steering wheel to shake? My steering wheel is shaking when going faster than 60mph. I'm running hub rings. Wheels are balanced and are not bent. All suspension components seem to be fine...

When I'm braking, vibration gets worse. I know, that my rotors are 100% warped. Waiting for shipment of replacement rotors.

I did wheel balancing in 2 different places. Same result...

Steering wheel shakes in 60-90mph zone. After 90mph it's ok...

You do not have warped rotors. You do have pad material depots.

Shake you have is a static imbalance; gets worse with speed.

Hub rings can very well be the main issue. If mounted off center, you are inputting a radial run out (RRO). I personally will not use hub rings. They do not offer the best mounting for hub centric wheel/cars.

Shop will have to take extra care in centering the assemblies on the balance machine. And then again when mounting on the car. At any step being off centered will lead to a) incorrect balancing, b) installing off center changing the balance / RRO.

Again, have your rotors turned. And doubt the shop is able to center the assemblies correctly.

Check tie rod ends.

I thought EvoX's were lug-centric, not hub-centric.

But a shake coming on at 60mph, makes me think imbalanced wheels as well. Throwing a weight is easy to do also.

If it's warped rotors the shaking will always be worse when you are on the brakes. So if the shaking doesn't start to feel violent when braking at 60, and only when driving at 60... It's likely just tires need balancing.

also visually check out your tires too. A tire separation will imbalance the tire and cause shaking. Hate to see someone even drive on a separated tire to a tire shop.

I guess it's been a few days since the last time that this came up, so we were due. OE wheels for every Mitsu that I've ever seen are hubcentric. And I've seen an Evo X.

just did a wheel swap (rpf1) onto my stock yoks (yeah a lil stretch) but only 1500 miles on them. front right gets the steering wheel shake at 80. not to terrible but im sure its the balance. ive got hub rings on as well. smike you said you dont use hub rings . would you suggest trying running without rings ? im going to go get the front tires rebalanced this week .

No, you're stuck with hub rings on those rims. Hub rings are needed to center the assembly to the hub. I do not recommend buying wheels that require them at all. If you have them off center you input radial run out (1st harmonic) that will cause vibrations.

Just bought my 08' GSR three weeks ago. I had the same issue where I would get bad vibrations to my steering wheel when going above 70 mph. Upon switching out my bald tires, three of my inner rims were bent! I'm not too happy about it but it does give me a good reason to buy rims now

Changed front rotors. Vibrations became a little less, but still exist. Got the running car on lift and engaged 1st gear so all wheels could rotate in air. I saw that my front tires are some kind out of round. It is seen when wheels are rotating. Rims are perfectly fine, inside and outside lips. I bought these tires in new condition. Will try to swap wheels front to rear.

my steering wheel vibrated when i went anything over 70mph and it stopped when i replaced my tires.. excessive toe in wear.. it could be your alignment too.
