lug stripped, stud spins with wheel on
went to mount new tires & one of my lug nuts stripped and managed to make the stud loose.
- tried vice gripping the back while turning the lug off
- tried a reverse thread socket
- drilled the top of the lug off so the stud is visible
- i don't see how an extractor bit will do anything since the stud is just spinning
thought was to go get a dremel tomorrow and try and split the lug in half hopefully being able to get it off, replace the stud afterwards.
any other suggestions?

I had a slightly similar experience. I ended up drilling out the stud, then sticking a bolt down into the lug and snapping the end of the stud off. Then I removed the hub, pressed out the studs and replaced all of them.
Use oil, and drill slowly or you're going to burn your drill bits and they will dull quickly.

Sucks.
What wheels are on it? Might get destroyed.
I guess drill out center of stud untill you get passed the nut.
If you have a impact you can also try re tightenging and over torque it to hopefully snap it

He won't be able to drill his stud, it's loose in the hub, it will just spin. I've had to do this before. We took the hub off the knuckle, wheel rotor and everything still attached. Then cut the head of the stud off. Was a pain in the ***.

After removing the other wheel lugs i was able to slip a metal hack saw blade in between the hub and the back of the wheel. Then its just a matter of sawing through stud, you can just press the blade against the stud and spin the lug but beware of scratching.

Oooooo, solid idea. I'll try to remember that for next time.

^ i kinda went with the last option, i ended up cutting the back of the stud off with a dremel after removing the other lugs it still was kinda caught on so i just used vice grips & held it in place against the caliper and drilled it out.
- no real damage to the wheel, couple little nicking spots
went to mount new tires & one of my lug nuts stripped and managed to make the stud loose.

Oh nice.
You were able to "drill" it out.
