Tire Rack site

Hey folks,

I searched around the forum but didn't see an easy way to browse through tirerack to view larger size wheel/tire combos for my 08 X. Any suggestions?

From the main page just click shop by size. You'll want to know what size you're looking for, of course. But otherwise, it's easy.

Yes got that, but can't size anything above 18x8.5 unless I'm not correct when I browse doing that. I can search a 18x9.5 +22 wheel and tire combo without entering a vechile.

Gotcha. So I can pick "shop for wheels" and if I choose 18", I have a ton of 18x8.5 and 8 18x9.5 tires. However, when I go to tires I only get 245/40/18 as a size option. I don't think they're willing to guarantee fitment of anything bigger so you're just going to have to order wheels and then order tires and not use the combo feature.

Not sure what you mean by bigger. Larger like 19 to 20 inch wheels? Or more agressive?

If you want more aggressive wheels look for 18x9.5 +22 to +18 then tire size would be 265 18 35.

Nate, it's an issue with the Tire Rack's Wheel/Tire combo tool. I'm already running 265/35/18s on an 18x9.5 +22 wheel myself. I'm pretty sure AJV was just trying to find out how to get a wider wheel / tire combo by using the wheel/tire combo selector section on Tirerack.com

I suspect Tirerack just doesn't want to deal with fitment issues so they won't upsize much in their configurator since they do guarantee fitment with the tool.

can i ask why all you are running a 265/35 tire on a 9.5 wide rim, that tire is a smaller diameter then stock and will throw your speedo off and count mileage faster, i just mounted my 18x9.5 +20 rims with 275/35/18 tires and i have to say the fitment is perfect. no stretch or pull to the tires, they mount with a straight sidewall. i had to roll the fenders in the rear and a slight slight rub up front but thats all good. with the 265 arent you getting a slight stretched tire look?

This is a very common size that is recommended without major rolling or fender pulling when lowered on Swift springs. It's in the wheel/tire fitment FAQ.

but why recommend a tire that is smaller then stock, it messes with all the vehicle systems, and im sure you dont want you evo counting mileage faster then it needs to. The 275 kumho ps91 tires i just mounted are awesome, sit flush with the rim face and only required me to roll the rear quarters in a little. and i have to say what a difference from driving on a 245 wide tire, this car handles so much better now its insane, and im lowered on tein springs,

It's only a shorter than stock. Not by much at all. At a 1MPH difference I'm not worrying about it at all.

I'm running a 255 on a 10" wide wheel. You want a little stretch for the best performance

Explained quite well here

A X should have a 275 on a 10 or 10.5 inch wheel. Anything else is just pointless to me...

My GF's MR, 18x10.5 +25; 275/35r18 Conti DW tire's. Lowered on H&R springs. Doesn't get much better.
