The official EVOM vocabulary and reference guide

When people talk about cars and car related items, they tend to use a lot of acronyms and special term which can make things very hard to understand. This handy vocabulary is created to help you understand these terms and make it easier on you to read the forums. Notice that the list is organized in alphabetical order for quick reference. Also, as you can see, some of the terms are actually links to where you can find more info on the specific term. If you find that there is a term missing from the list, please PM me with the term missing and I will update the list.

ACD-ActiveCenter Differential
AWD- All Wheel Drive
A/C - Air Conditioning
A/F - Air/Fuel Ratio (can also be referred to as AFR)

A/T - Automatic Transmission

ABS - Antilock Braking System

ATDC - After Top Dead Center
AFAIK - As Far As I Know
AS - Apex Silver

B

BHP- Brake Horse Power (mostly used in England)
BAR 1 BAR - 14.508 psi

BTDC- Before Top Dead Center

BOV – Blow Off Valve
BUMP- Bumping A Thread Up to The Top
BBY - Blue By You

CT9A- The Chassis Code of the EVO 7-9
CP9A- The Chassis Code of the EVO 3-6
CPS - Crank Position Sensor

CAS - Cam

Angle Sensor

CV - Constant Velocity Joint

CAI - Cold Air Intake

DOHC - Double OverHead Camshaft
DV - Diverter Valve
DSM - Diamond Star Motors

GND - Ground

GVW- Gross Vehicle Weight

GG - Graphite Grey

HP - Horse Power
HID - High-Intensity Discharge
HVAC - heating ventilation and air conditioning system

I/C – Inter Cooler

Injector latency - the amount of time for the injector to open

OTD- Out The Door price (the price you paid after tax and fees)
OEM - Original Equipment Manufacturer

PSI - Pounds per Square Inch (usually used for measuring boost pressure and tire pressure)
PWR - power to weight ratio
PR - Phoenix Red

RON - Rated Octane Number
RPM - Revolutions per Minute
RH - Right Hand relating to parts RH is always the passenger side
