Hi folks,

my missus's car, a Mirage 97 CE recently just diagnosed as siezed engine and require either a rebuilt or new engine. Ive been quoted so far as high as $2400 to $2600 to rebuild the same engine. I have also been quoted a replacement secondhand engine to replace the current 1.5 lt 4g15 sohc with the same engine in a dohc form and 16 valves for roughly around $1500 including labour. 4G15 DOHC 16 VALVE?

Money being an issue, i am now resolved to taking the latter as the best option.

I cant however get any information about this engine on the Net about, ie compression, bore\stroke, power figures and what car this engine was used for.

All I am being told is that it is jap spec and without being too cynical to the lovely gentleman I am getting this from, I am a little confused as to genuity of this engine, (ie another engine with rocker cover replaced with one emblazoned with 'mitsubishi dohc 16valve)

Any info would be most welcome
