Evo VII Fuel Gauge - Need Help

Hi Guys,

Just bought an Evo VIII GT-A a few weeks back.
Never really would have considered an automatic Evo... Just seems wrong, but it was cheap and in good condition, and it drives really well as a daily. Plus being auto, my wife can use it too.

Anyway, I've noticed since I got the car, the fuel gauge doesn't work.

If the tank is totally full, the gauge goes up to about halfway. Sometimes it says around 3/4 empty mark though, and then after a while it will go back to halfway. It does tend to drop as the tank empties.

I've done my research and it seems a common issue is the senders.

I ripped out the back seat today and checked the resistance coming from the primary and secondary senders. Recorded my figures. Went to the service station. Filled the tank full and checked the sender resistance again.

Primary Sender
With ~11L in the tank: 37.2 Ohms
With Full tank: 2.6 Ohms
Factory specs say it should range from 2 to 41 Ohms (higher when empty)

Secondary Sender
With ~11L in the tank: 60.5 Ohms
With Full tank: 2.5 Ohms
Factory specs say it should range from 2 to 69 Ohms (higher when empty)

So it appears the senders are OK.

I cleaned up the contacts on the wire connectors just to make sure they were contacting OK.

I also unplugged the primary sender plug, turned ignition to 'ON' and saw the fuel gauge was on empty with the fuel tank light on.
I plugged the primary back in, and then unplugged the secondary. Same result.

OK - so now I'm stuck...

I want to check the wiring for the fuel gauges at the other end (under the dash somewhere) to make sure the resistance level there is OK also.

I have no idea which connector this is or where to locate it, or what pins I should be looking at. I have the evo VII wiring diagrams, but I'm not sure how to read it.

If wiring is ok, perhaps the gauge itself is rooted. Don't know how to test though.

If anyone can help, or post photos, please do.
Even a quick youtube video recorded on your phone would be excellent.

Thanks
