my wife bought the car i wanted....for herself.

Hey my names David. My wife recently bought a 2012 phantom black GSR with ~ 14k miles on it. bone stock. this is coming after owning a 1999 corolla for ~6 years. shes not much on forums so i figured I'd join up to ask questions as they come along. some of you might recognize me from the 3sgto and 3si forums (3000gt/stealths). im fairly mechanically savvy so ill help where I can. I am a CNC technician and fly all around the country every week for work, so I'd love to meet some of you all!

shes been wanting an Evo for a while as well, so I shouldn't be surprised. she DID tell me however tell me to start looking for another 3kgt vr4 (preferably a shell to start) to build myself another one. ya know, because it went so well the other 2 times.

as deep rooted as I am in that community (really good friends with the owner for one of the top shops for those cars) and known as one of the gurus, I cannot stress the "because that went so well before" about those cars man. they are just fickle sometimes, and its due to that they are dirt cheep and make great power for the price, so kids buy them and ream on them and leave nothing good for the rest of us. As a 3000gt/stealth guru, my advice? dont buy one unless your ready to redo everything on the car because its been neglected for so long, AKA start with a shell. *end off evo topic rant*

Well well well, we meet again lol. Im currently doing a 180k on my VR4. I can totally agree with you snook that some are very fickle cars due to the low level of funds needed to purchase one. I must have lucked out with mine. I pulled the girdle to inspect (rods and mains) bearings for the 180k and I barely had any wear. I've seen some on 3si have bad wear at 80k miles (i'm at 176k running 15-17psi 400-440 awhp) Sucks that your wife didn't get you an Evo lol
