SAFCII knock reading

What is the dangerous range of knock reading?

What is your knock reading at idle and cruise?

My knock reading is around 40 at idle and I have seen 80 of knock reading at 3k rpm cruise. Is this normal?

Thanks!

I have 0 knock at all times when it is cold out, below freezing. The highest I have ever seen has been 26 while at idle. I'm not sure what it is supposed to read or what the range is but the warmer it gets, the more knock I get. 21 is the higest I've seen at cruise and I always have 0 knock when at WOT.

supposedly 50-70+ is real knock

You do have to calibrate the knock sensitivity when the car is fully warmed though.

What can I do to get rid of knock? When I get my CEL, the code comes up 243, knock!
My SAFC II shows around 25 knock. I'm having trouble setting the knock on there though. I did it once, but I haven't been able to change it to correct it.

any info??

i just looked at my knock sensor all day long.

from the cold to mild idle, it'll stay around 28 to 36.

then once it gets warm, it'll slowly jump uptp 79 to 85

then once it gets hot, it'll stay at 102.

And once it stays at 102, then you boost, it'll go upto 200 +.

but knock monitor only shows +70 Since my 3500 RPM knock meter setup is at 105, and 78 for 1500 RPM.

This damn thing is driving me nuts.

I know I'm running lean, but I can't trust the knock meter. I need to get wideband...

I've given up on the SAFC knock reading. I've tried calibrating it 4 times. Mine always goes up to 200+ when I floor it no matter what. I could have race gas in the tank and only 10 pounds of boost and it will still go up to 200.

Time for me to get a wideband too.

Amen to that..... The knock reading on the SAFC is not suposed to work on our cars.
BTW there is a zeitronix wide band group buy going on right now, from club3g, do a search... U can log to a computer and get Wideband , EGT, Boost, RPM, that and a pocketlogger and u'll have enough data to become a street tuner freak..

Are you guys tuning without a wideband ???!!! The knock function on the Safc II is more to give you referance from your stock reading. It's like a "tare" button on a scale. Once you set your 1500 rpm and 3500 rpm value, then tune it just give you an idea of how close you are getting to a knock situation. There's no set number that says your car is knocking at such and such knock value. Once your knock values are set you shouldn't be getting a real high reading on your knock reading. Highest mine ever was 10, but I'm NA you guys might get alittle more cause you're FI. You will get a higher reading in higher temps too. But really do not tune with out a wideband. Check out the Innovate Motorsports Lm-1 its pretty cheap and a lot of spec-v guys have had good success with it. Get the rpm kit with it and you can datalog with your computer it comes with everything you need including a bung.... here's a link...

I was tuned WITH a wideband. Unfortunately I didn't get a bonus free wideband afterward so I can tune it whenever I change something. lol
