stock datalogs

Rather than junk up the other thread I thought I would start my own. I finally got my AFC installed and the interface to datalog.
Tonight I went out to get some baseline numbers to start working from.

These are from a bone stock 05. Paper filter and all.
94 octane
All these pulls were done in 3rd gear.

What exactly are you logging there? The first column looks like RPM, and last looks like timing. Is that middle one there narrowband o2 voltage?

Damn, that's some nice timing advance. I don't see 23-24 unless I'm on race gas and leaned out quite a bit. What were the ambient temps during these runs? I should probably go do some cold-weather logs, because my car feels much stronger. I may have some stronger timing, too.

I assume you had leaned out a lot by that 3rd run, right? It appears you did a good bit, but didn't lose timing. WHen you add an MBC, it will be a new challenge.

I would guess the temp was around 65-68.

I have not yet made any adjustments with the AFC. These are all bone stock pulls.

I thought the variances might be strange ...that is why I posted them all.

The last two were done back to back without stopping to cool down, perhaps that is why the O2's looked more lean???? I just ran down the road ...then turned around and ran it again immediately.

Do you normally cool off for a minute between tuning runs??

that is some real good timing... I would keep filling up at that gas station if I were you. take your car to the track and see what kind of traps you run.

I went out the other evening to do some more tuning, but after I made my first run and pulled over to save my log and take some notes ....the cops pulled in behind me a few minutes later. I was in the middle of nowhere and pulled into a little pulloff area in a field. "strange place to pull over" the cop said.

Oh well ...I headed home.

I had taken some fuel out before the one run that I made, and here are the results.

afc settings:
4600 -1
5200 -3
5800 -5
6400 -6
7000 -7
7600 -8

rpm O2 Timing
3199 .89 6
3468 .91 5
3765 .91 6
4074 .91 6
4402 .91 8
4683 .91 8
4960 .91 10
5253 .91 10
5523 .93 12
5800 .93 13
6035 .93 16
6300 .93 17
6531 .93 20
6761 .93 22
6964 .93 24
7175 .95 24
7367 .93 25
7554 .93 24

25 degrees of timing! I did'nt expect that. Apparently my car is happy with the .91's on the low side. This is Sunoco 94 ...maybe I should try some Exxon 93 just to see what happens.
I need to get back out and do some more logging to confirm these numbers and then tweak a bit more.

warp9: I am using the free palm'n'stein software found here http://students.db.erau.edu/~szabafab/stein/

a $15 palm m100 from ebay and an $85 obd2 interface from http://www.multiplex-engineering.com/

I am just writing out the results by hand from my palm.

T16-003

You will need to tell them what software you plan to run before they will sell it to you. Just read at the bottom of the tunerstein website.

got to do a little tuning this evening. Temp was around 70.

I added some fuel on the low end and leaned it out a bit more on the top.
afc settings:
4000 and below was at +3
4600 -1
5200 -3
5800 -5
6400 -8
7000 -9
7600 -9

I did several 3rd gear runs and they were all very similar:

2515 0.85 16
2625 0.85 15
2757 0.89 12
2890 0.89 9
3058 0.91 6
3242 0.93 5
3453 0.93 4
3714 0.93 4
3957 0.95 4
4183 0.95 5
4453 0.93 5
4691 0.93 7
4957 0.93 8
5207 0.93 8
5441 0.95 9
5671 0.95 10
5886 0.95 12
6113 0.93 15
6328 0.93 18
6539 0.93 18
6726 0.95 21
6914 0.95 22
7089 0.95 24
7261 0.95 24
7417 0.95 23
7566 0.93 24

I decided to try a run in 4th gear to see what happened. I ran out of road and didnt get to hit the rev limiter ...but I got close enough.

2871 0.91 11
2968 0.91 7
3070 0.91 7
3183 0.91 4
3300 0.93 3
3433 0.93 5
3589 0.93 6
3722 0.93 7
3871 0.93 7
4003 0.93 7
4144 0.93 7
4285 0.93 8
4421 0.93 7
4566 0.93 9
4683 0.93 9
4816 0.93 9
4937 0.93 10
5066 0.93 10
5199 0.93 10
5320 0.93 10
5433 0.93 10
5531 0.93 10
5648 0.93 12
5761 0.93 13
5878 0.93 14
5996 0.93 14
6101 0.93 15
6203 0.93 16
6292 0.93 18
6398 0.93 19
6492 0.93 20
6597 0.93 20
6671 0.93 21
6769 0.93 21
6843 0.93 22
6917 0.93 22
6988 0.93 22
7070 0.93 22
7136 0.93 21

I did not get as much timing, obviously. I wish I would have done a baseline run in 4th before I started playing with the AFC ....maybe I will set things to zero and do it next time out.

It would be nice to have an EGT gauge ...but I guess I will keep leaning it out up high until timing starts to get pulled. I am not real sure what to do down low.

Any advice is appreciated.
