Our EVO 8 and EVO 9 Drag and Road Race (Ultimate Final) and Ultimate Ratio) rebuilds include the best gear ratios to give you superior gearing for your racing goals! Link HERE

Are you tired of having to waste precious seconds shifting into 5th gear at the end of the 1/4? Want the taller gear to take advantage of the long straight on your favorite road course? We have you covered!

With options like:
  • EVO 9 1st gear
  • EVO 8 3-4 gears
  • 4.00 final drive
  • 4.11 final drive
  • 4.928 final drive
There are many options to take advantage of your application! Please feel free to email us with your goals so we can match you with the best ratio!

A common email we receive is how happy our customers are that they don't have to shift into 5th gear anymore at the drag strip. They can keep it in 4th all the way past the finish line without losing time.

Thanks!

Jack

Hello! Costs would be as follows:

1) If you want a rebuild with the 3-4 upgrade, go HERE and at the pop down menu at the top of the page, select 'YES, Install EVO 8 3-4 gears!' That would bring the total costs up to $1299.98 plus shipping

2) If you want the gears installed, but no other work done, it will cost $350 labor plus $499.99 for the parts. That would give you a total of $849.99 before shipping. Our labor includes complete tear-down and inspection of the trans, cleaning using our state-of-the-art equipment, install of the new parts and assembly with new seals and pins.

3) If you want to install these parts yourself, we sell them. EVO 8 3rd gear output, input. EVO 8 4th gear output, input.

Thanks!!

Jack

Awesome site and info, looks like the 4.11 gears will let me get through the Trap without having to shift into 5th and give me a few more MPG on the highway as well.

Oops, missed this one, sorry...

On average, it takes us about 2 weeks to complete a build once it gets here. Some builds take less time. It depends on the type of build and how much labor it takes.

Thanks!!

Mike,

Sorry, no. The 6-speed can break gears and synchros at factory power levels and they are modular. This means you can't get a single piece for some areas of the trans and have to replace the whole assembly. This makes it extremely expensive to rebuild.

You are better off converting to a 5-speed. You have many ratio options, far stronger gears, and a lot more support for the 5-speed.

We sell a 6 to 5-speed conversion kit for $550. It's very easy to install the 5-speed with this kit.

Thanks!

Jack

Thanks jack, but I really love the way my 6 speed shifts, and how the shifter doesn't feel so sloppy. I bought myself a 05 MR because they are rare what only 1500 made, guess ill just try to go for bigger power then what I have, and just no hard launching.

It's not the launching that kills them.
  • 3rd and 4th gears are known to fatigue and break.
  • If you miss a shift and hit 6th instead of 4th, the synchro spring will fail and become jammed in between the hub and slider assembly.
  • If you have a clutch drag problem, the 3rd gear synchro can break.
We do sell limited parts for them if you ever want to repair it HERE. If there is gear damage, though, you're better off finding another core as they get very expensive fast.
