8-9 and X final drives

Hey guys as many of you know these have been on back order for quite some time.
because of this we are looking at other suppliers/ manufacturers.

we have teamed up with Albins and they will be making exclusive ratios for us.
at first we will be doing one ratio for the 8/9 and one for the X.

for the X we have decided to go with a 4.20:1 final drive.
while slightly shorter than the current 4.18 it offers the best tooth count ratio for optimum strength while still giving a noticeable rpm decrease at highway speeds.

what we need to know is what ratio you guys want to see.
the 4.11 is extremely popular and Albins design would be stronger by material and also helix angle for lower chances of pushing a shaft out of the case. the problem is the Albins gears will cost a little more than the current 4.11 so if/ when those come available again we don't want to have two offerings of the same ratio if the Albins would not sell.

so we are curious what ratio everyone would like to see for the evo 8-9 5 speeds.
we could do a 4.00 that ends up being only 3% taller offering a 100-200 rpm drop at speed. Or we could do something in between the 4.11 and stock 4.53:1

so what does everyone think?

I personally would be more interested in something between 4.11 and stock on the IX. If 4.11 is 10% taller than stock, then something 5% would be a good middle ground.

This winter is the year the trans gets refreshed, last drivetrain part left untouched. I'll probably be pulling it to send your way around Nov for a basic build and 4.31 upgrade.

Dallas,
just let us know when you are ready.
if we don't have that ratio in stock we should be able to get another one.
thanks,

I currently have a 4.11 in my car with evo 8 1-5 ratios. I like it for highway cruising, but I don't think I will like it as much for autocross. Haven't gone yet to try it out. I would be interested in trying a ~4.30 to split the difference between what I have, and stock. And probably go with a 9 first gear with the 4.30 fd.

Dallas, you'll love having a built trans. Mine shifts like butter once its warmed up, and its 10x better than stock when cold. I've driven an Evo with a Jack's built trans and it was just as good as my TRE..

We can still get the 4.23 as well. But since we now have a better deal with than we did before with Albins and the are an extremely high quality manufacturer we switched to having them in our build and we wanted a ratio in between the current offerings.
