Turbo Shopping

Ok, I've been looking around for a turbo and have come up with a few choices. I just want a little feed back from you guys. I can do any type of flange since I am fabricating my own manifold. My choices have come down to this...

T3
T3 super 60
Big T28
16g
20g

I'm looking to make between 250 and 280hp. What would be the best option for me to make this easily and still have a little room for improvement? Also what is the best size intercooler piping to run? Ive been reading up on turbos a little more since I changed my choice from n/a to turbo. Just need a little help

I thought the t25 spooled too fast in order to create 250-280hp.

spooling to fast has nothing to do with a turbo's power output. It's all about compressor efficiency.

The T-25 is not the turbo for you with that goal in mind... T3/4 hybrid, Evo 3 big 16G, Big T28 woiuld be fine for you're goals.

All have good spool characteristics and the compressor efficiency hits your target hp. The Evo3 big 16G is one of the best i could recommend for spool/power on the lancer motor.

The T-25 is capable of 250WHP, why wouldn't that reach his goal?

he wants 250-280... why would you max out a turbo to reach your goal instead of buying a turbo that falls better into the goal via it's compressor effeciency. Especially if that turbo shares similiar spool characteristics.

Besides he's probably talking about whp... turbo's generally reference crank hp. With that in mind he'd be wanting a turbo that would put out about 15-25% higher hp than his goal.

What are the major/minor differences in the 16g and the T28? I'm going for either one of these two. Also, does the stock evo intercooler fit the lancer? If not, what is the max diameter that was fit into the lancer?

The stock evo intercooler mounts up fine... i do believe that you need to modify the bumper a bit though(little trim here and there).

These will help you out on some things...
