Turbo A Stock Engine?

Hey Guys! Before I start I did NOT See any info on any of the stickys about my question. Well I found this Turbo kit on Ebay yesterday For around $600 bucks
http://www.ebay.com/itm/T3-T4-T3-T4-...ht_3826wt_1139
And I asked my Auto shop teacher If I should buy this for my 02' OZ, The Engine is Stock, Only mods are a K&N Short Ram Intake. He Said it would not be a great idea to install a Turbo on a stock Engine... Is That right? He said Swap The Engine for a Evo Engine. Yes I heard Lot's of you Guys here Told me this before. But Should I pay $3,000 for a Evo Engine, I mean is that the right pricing? And How much should I sell my Engine if I do swap it?

Thanks,
-Andy

stock engines are good for 9psi on a decent tune. some guys are even running 12-15psi... out motors go for about 300$ at salvage yards, it aint no big deal to blow one up.. LOL just a 4hr swap.

without many issues. u can run 9psi and shouldnt ever really break unless u just dog the crap out of it 24/7

that turbo kit is crap. nothing will last.

ur talking 2-3k to do a turbo setup that wont break every other few days.

once again... LOOK AT THE STICKIES... its ALL in there.

Well might as well just swap it for a Turbo Evo engine rather than just spending 2-3k on Just the Turbo and only producing 9psi-15psi. Yah Know? And Yeah I knew a $600 Buck Turbo Kit was to good to be true :/ Yeah I'll Look at them more.

Thanks,
-Andy

Greatt. >.< So more around 10k? In your opinion Would you swap a OZ Engine for a Turbo'd EVO Engine? Or Put a turbo on Your OZ Engine?

Thanks,
-Andy

turbo the oz motor, or swap out for the 4g64 motor and turbo that. The evo motor swap is going to be a lot more than it's worth and yeah, I would say atleast 10k and a pain in the ***. if it were cheap and easy, everyone would be doing it, and 9-15psi is pretty decent on a stock motor. i'm running 12psi on my 4g94 and posting 205whp. like demon ni2 said, if you blow your motor, no big deal. just go pick up another from for a cpl hundred and slap it in. i actually plan on buying one and building it, then i'll keep upping the boost til the motor blows and swap them out lol

I plan to do the same with my 03 lancer. I might go twin scroll. Read it produces less heat and and can actually be better for a stock engine. Just don't boost to much. Maybe you should look into that as well.

OMG will people please stop posting in threads like this. ALL This has been covered like I said in your other thread don't be lazy....SEARCH its not hard. Hell just read the first few threads at top of this forum even if you don't read the stickies. You obviously don't know enough to handle it on your own yet.

-Andy

If you want a 10 sec car get ride of your oz and get awd or rwd or get a honda. We have mitsubishi's not Honda's. I wouldn't listen to your shop teacher if he's telling to just swap over an EVO motor he has no clue what he's talking about. None of the guys on here would tell someone install a 4g63 "EVO motor" cause its really a pain in the butt. They have said you could swap the 4g64 "eclipse motor" cause its a better motor but its still a lot of work and money. Theres 2 good thread about the g64 swap and a how bunch of them on g94 and what you can do to them. Just keep reading and you'll find the answers you need

4G64 with a 4G63 head...then finding a turbo manifold would be like finding grass on a golf course...

what i don't get is if a 4G63 swap is such a bad idea, why push for a 4G64 swap when the blocks are almost identical...

My vote is turbo the stock motor, and keep it low and have fun, you'll learn everything you'll need to know to build a 10 second car, WITH A DIFFERENT PLATFORM...the money it would cost to get into the 10's in a FWD lancer would be quite a bit...even getting an Evo 9 into the 10's is not as easy and inexpensive as some may think...at 10 seconds you'll likely be nearing 140mph in the 1/4...
