Exclamation 2003 Factory Anti-theft

Hey guys, I'm completely lost with this whole bit.
I own a 2003 Lancer ES and I've got alarm/keyless entry hooked up on the car. I now have time to get the remote start on the car. Problem is, I'm studying the car and places say that the car has a built-in factory anti-theft system, Transponder. Other places say the car doesn't have it. I don't know which to believe! Does the 2003 Lancer ES have this equipped?

I know that the EvoVIII's have the Immobilizer that has the key have a "chip" inside. Some places say that the Standard Lancers have an RF system that detects the key in the ignition, also known as the Transponder system.

Can anyone tell me, is there Transponder in the car or no?

Anyone who installed remote start on their 2002-03 Lancers need to have a Transponder bypass installed? Your help is much abilged. Thank yoU!

We don't have a chip in the key, although you do have to ground the keysense wire...

All the tech sites i searched all say it does, but i know for a fact that only the evo's do. The Es's don't. They're reall easy to install.

So if I have the ES wiring diagram and the diagram to the remote starter, everything will connect no problem? I don't need to bypass anything? Do I still need to ground the keysense wire?

Tell me what wires you had to use when you installed your remote starter? The important ones..

Keysense is the blue wire in the ingition harness... depending on the alarm system, it's not required for remote start...

as far as remote start goes... you need:

*12V constant - white
*Starter - black/yellow
*Ignition - black/white
*ACC 1 - blue/black
*ACC 2 - blue/white
*NEUTRAL SAFETY SWITCH - requires ground input for most remote start systems

*Status output from the main alarm module to the remote start module

Those are the major ones assuming you have everything else in the alarm hooked up...

DaGuL, thanks for the info. I have an automatic though. So I wouldn't need that neutral safety switch right?
