exhaust burning rear bumper
Hi, I've noticed in the last week or 2 that everytime I get home from work & go around to my trunk, I can smell something burning. I got under my car this morning and found a melted spot about 2x the size of a quarter. It's not around the exhaust tip but on the side. I still have me stock exhaust on. Has anybody else had this problem and can anybody suggest any solution. The RRM exhaust shield only protects the cut-out for the exaust tip correct? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

the exhaust clearance is not enough. If it cant expell the exhaust away from thecar you are going to get a buildup of heat. The melting point of the melts/plastics/paint isnt that much.
remember your engine cumbustion spits out exhaust that starts out at 750'C+ by the time it gets to your tail pipe its still pretty hot , 150'C or so maybe more if your under load and letting it rip. You have to install a heat shield to protect your bumper, or modify your exhaust to extend/lower it out further. there was a first generation Greddy Exhaust that was doing this, they corrected it with a modified second version. It was just too close to the body, more space is required

I'll just have to mount a piece off metal on there for now. The only drivable road to get to the nearest dealership is closed for probably a month or so. They were 4 laning it and the rock face beside the road started to slide so now it's closed till they deem it safe. I would have taken it to the dealer but I can't so I need to fix it before it gets worse. I'll just try a piece of metal. Thanks anyways
