I have a 2002 oz rally lancer. Getting a catback and intake. Was looking into turbos and Idk if I wanna go that far. Is it gonna be worth the money to do it??

Nothing else will give you more power, IMO since mine is a dd I wouldn't spend that much on it. If it were a project car and I had the money, definitely.

A turbo is what will give you the more hp for the money. You can gather a kit together for +- 2500$ and it can give you almost 2x more hp and torque than the stock engine. Mine is a daily driver and i do lapping every monday with it at 11 psi (216 whp/+-210 trq). If you do drag racing or lapping though some things will break eventualy. If its only a daily driver for the street it should be viable as long as you build it right the first time.

It 's great if you feel like you absolutely need that extra power. As of right now I wouldn't, I don't plan to go on the track anytime soon & for the most part I'm not an aggressive driver. I'm just happy with my car as it is, it's an economy car that I use as my daily. The most I'm going to invest in is some basic mods like intake, exhaust etc. Then drop it on some coils & experiment with some wheels.

Again, If you want to go faster and have the money shoot for some boost.

Ya honestly I probably won't. It's got 125,000 miles and I only paid 3k for it. Is there a dsm motor I could swap in easily?

Just have the engine it rebuilt then it will be turbo ready and then turbo it ! It's worth it if you like to go fast .

I paid mine 3k too and it has 180k km on it and its been running great the past 2 years

Yes, it'll give you a very nice power boost, but the KBB value on our Lancers in about $5300(well mine was when I first got it @ 59k miles). What you have to ask yourself is if it's really worth it to throw well over half it's blue book value into the car to get more power. If you really love the car and absolutely have to get more power out of it, and plan on keeping it for quite a while, then I would say yes. If you're gonna trade it in lets say a year or two it'll be the equivalent of you just taking that $3k and burning it in a 20 gallon drum.

Ya you are right. I think l I'll just do some minor upgrades and then in a year or two I'll trade it in for either a newer lancer or a suby
