idling issues

Can anyone offer advice on this problem I'm having? When I'm at a light and hold the brake in my car idles at a low rpm and sometimes the engine just shuts off any ideas?

Any check engine lights? Is it only when you press on the brake?

no check engine lights and for the most part it is really when i have the brake pushed in but recently i have been just sitting in the car and then after some time it gets really low in revs and then just stalls. any way it could be a dirty throttle body?

Could just be slack in the throttle cable?

i was thinking that it might be slack in the throttle cable as well because i had felt it a bit loose before. I'm not entirely sure how to tighten it.

Keep it simple then move on to other possible solutions. Just look at the cable. Typically you'll need a wrench.
