2003 Lancer 4g69 swap

I'm starting this thread to help expand knowledge on the 4g94 to 4g69 swap in the base model lancers. I currently have both cars next to each other in my backyard. My first goal is pulling everything out of the ralliart first. My main concerns with this portion of the build are what to do with the fuel, power steering and brake lines. As well as which harness needs to be removed with the engine and ecu? Any and all help or thoughts is welcomed/appreciated

So I bought an engine hoist and looking at the car I decided to take the engine and transmission separate, mainly because I couldn't remove the axles, my current concern is how to remove the 4 bolts on the torque converter any tricks or tips?

the torque converter should be fully seated on the input shaft/pump drive of the transmission during install and removal, careful not to let it fall off, it, and the transmission contain a fair bit of oil, even after you drain it...the bolts that attach the torque converter to the flex plate are removed one by one, after removing the starter motor, through the hole that the starter sits in...rotate engine clockwise by hand (with a ratchet or breaker bar)

2003 lancer oz rally. Not evo

I am. Swapping engine and trying to pull out without the trans, it seems I have to maybe jack the tran up a bit and loosen or remove the mounts for it. To get the motor to it enough to get out. Does e torque converter come out with it also. Thx

When I was trying to pull the 4g69 it was easy to see that it would be way easier to lift the car up and drop down the engine with transmission and drivshafts still connected

I was able to pull motor with automatic trans still in car. Loosened the trans mounts and it was a tight squeeze but managed. And I did it myself with no help. I did not load pics upside down that's the way the site took them wtf.

Pull motor without pulling trans out

Here are pics of torque converter bolts to take out. Doing this you can take the bolt out of the trans mounts (3 of them)put Jack under to support trans and tilt the trans to the drivers side them engine will come out. Take out torque conv bolts first. There is a plate with 2 10 mm bolts you must remove to get to the 17mm torq conv bolts

where are the axles stuck? in the transmission? you need to pry them out, there's a circlip on the inner spline...can be tricky, just rotate pry, rotate pry. till it pops out...

Thanks crans for being helpful still. I didn't even want to open the forum today because I figured no one had posted anything. But yes when I last worked on the car the axles were still stuck in the transmission. I had no idea there was circlips. Where are they located?

Just take a prybar and pry it where it meets the trans...the driver side will be a lil tricky
