1999 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution to buy or not?

hello everyone,

Where can i start? ever since i was a youngster Mitsubishi has been one of my favorite motors on the road. The evil beastly looking style, purse like a tiger and there are many mods you can place on the Mitsubishi! I am a little bit of a gamer and if the choice for a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution that would 100% be my choice. Yet i have never driven one in real life only on console games .

So it is time to change i have saved up enough cash to treat myself to a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution. I have had my eyes on a few on for sale sites like Ebay, Craigslist etc. But the one i will describe below seems to be the one for me

Specs
Make: Mitsubishi
Year: 1999
Model: Lance Evolution
Fuel: Gasoline
Transmission: Manual

Then the description from the seler
"CAR CONDITION:
- Auction grade 4/5 : clean title, no rust, no accidents
- Landed in Vancouver and BC-registered
- BC-government safety inspected
- Brand new tires
- Oil serviced
- Daytime Running Lights Activated
- Approved headlights
- Original odometer certificate
- Professionally detailed on delivery"

So sounds all good from that perspective. So what do you think of the car as a driver a user?? whats the maintenance like and what should i be looking out for when going to buy the Mitsubishi??

Editted:
After some research: check out http://www.canada.for-sale.com/mitsubishi-lancer which have a lot of choices, models years etc and are more local

Thanks

What is the price? You can usually get a much better deal if you import the car yourself through a site like http://jdmconnection.ca/ or https://b-pro.ca/

Also, do you have a local shop that has experience working on early model evos? All evos require maintenance, especially 17 year old ones.

P.S. If you can, get a 6 TME or 6 RS for the quicker ratio steering rack and better turbo.

Its not just about "whats in stock", there are daily auto auctions in Japan. You can browse upcoming auction cars through https://b-pro.ca/jdm-auction/ (and a number of other sites).

Finding the car you want, then letting the Importer know how much to bid up to. You can also look on sites like www.yahoo.co.jp/ and http://isicar.mine.nu/ for auto listings from dealers and private parties. A good importer will have people in Japan they work with that can get you any car for the right $$$

I have done the above before, it took about 2 months for me to find a clean Evo 6 RS at auction. It was actually pretty fun checking daily though.
