I painted the heat shield in flat black. I just used high temp paint, no primer. I think it was paint for outdoor grills and stoves. It's been over a year and it looks just as good as when I painted it.

its silver.

Did you sand it down at all?

My idea is actually kind of out there and artistic.

I want to paint it matte black, then fling red and gray paint on to it like a confetti look. So the red will match the theme in the engine and the gray will match the paint of the car. Then I may clear coat it for a powdercoated look.

I just used a 3m scuff pad to ruff it up a little bit. looks good enough. you're covering up an ugly as* manifold. when i or you get a header, that will look way better than an ugly cover anyway.

Sounds good, Bought all of the paint today, So Im gonna try it. I kind of want a header, but I don't want to spend $200 for unnoticable gains.

All done, I need to add another coat of clear and it should be alright. Then im gonna let it sit a few days before I put it back on the car.

2 coats of primer
2 coats of matte black
Lots of random red dots with a toothbrush
Lots of random gray dots with a toothbrush
2 coats of clear

Basically I just flung dabs of paint on to it with a toothbrush and it looks like a piece of modern art lol. Ill have pics soon.

Some pics...Ill put it on the car in a few days and clean the engine up and get better pics.

Cleaned up the monstar truck lol. Notice the black sidemarkers...I don't really like them but the orange faded to a brownish color.

Get a header and forget about it lol. A header gave me more noticeable gains than any other mod short of the piggyback. It ain't a turbo but a hundred or two is cheaper than 4 grand.

That said, the heatsheild looks pretty cool installed
