I've been having some issues with the brakes on my car. (2002 Mitsubishi Lancer OZ Rally)

When I drive, there is a squeaking noise coming from the front wheels. Its a squeak like "Squeak, squeak, squeak" as the wheel turns around and not a constant "Squeeeaaaaakkkk." (thats the best way I could describe it, lol) As I go faster, the squeak becomes faster.

when I lightly tap the brake pedal (even lightly set my foot on the brake pedal) the squeak stops.

Then, as I come to a stop, I hear a barking noise coming from the brakes until I come to a full stop.

I've been told my pads have about 70% left on them and my rotors have been resurfaced a few months ago.

I haven't really noticed a pulsating brake pedal or a vibrating/jiggling steering wheel.

anyone knows what gives?

i would guess maybe a bearing for the squeek and maybe for the "brake noise" the rotors were surfaced below their threashold or you have a more metallic brake pad tearing them up quickly. our's had a bulletin back in 2003 about noisy brakes btw, but dosn't seem like the sound u described.

sir it could be that:
1. rotors are warped.
2. brake rotors are nearing its effective limit.

you could reface them in a reputable machine shop or get a new rotor

Clean your caliper, pads, and rotors up with brake cleaner.
Then apply some brake grease behind the pad or shim.
Or your brake pad and rotor just straight up sucks.

with the car on the ground, put both your hands on the tire at a 9-3 position.
Yank the wheel on both sides and check for play. If it moves, your bearings are gone or just about...

sounds like the brakes sensor-- you didnt say how long it had been since you had the brakes done last. Someone saying 70% left of pads I would question. But if pads are good, putting some brake pad anti squeal will work fine.
