Lancer oz rear disc conversion

It's time for me to do a write up on my lancer oz 06 rear disc conversion. I have seen a couple threads on this but all of them required custom brackets, a 5 lug swap or were a little complicated to achieve. This is a very simple way to do the conversion and will cost in between 700-1000$ depending if you're buying new, refurbished or used parts. The setup will vary if you have abs or not. This will keep your 4x114.3 bolt pattern using oem 04-06 rallairt and/or 04 sportback non-ralliart parts. The easiest way to do this is to buy 2 complete trailing arms from either a 04-06 ralliart(ABS) or a 04 sportback non-ralliart(NON-ABS) with all the hoses and shoes attached to it from a scrap yard. Of course you have to make sure the back plates can be used and not too rotten because those are a dealer only part and are very expensive.

Parts list:
04-06 ralliart or 04 sportback rear calipers w/bracket
04-06 ralliart(ABS) or 04 sportback(NON-ABS) rear back plates
04 sportback rear rotors
04 sportback rear pads
04-06 ralliart or 04 sportback rear caliper bracket bolts
04-06 ralliart or 04 sportback parking brake hardware kit
04-06 ralliart or 04 sportback parking brake shoes
04-06 ralliart or 04 sportback rear brake hoses and hard lines (the last 3 before the caliper)
04-06 ralliart or 04 sportback parking brake drum arm (where the cable attaches inside the drum)(to be determined if the oz one can fit)
04-06 ralliart or 04 sportback rear brake line retaining clips
Slider pin silicone grease
Copper grease

Here's a few pictures of my conversion waiting to be installed:

You can use your oz trailing arms but if you buy them off a scrap yard they won't disassemble every piece u need. What you need is pretty much everything that is attached to the trailing arm besides the trailing arm itself and the hub/bearing assembly.

Don't know if you know about it, but silicone grease breaks down relatively quick at high temps, I won't let it come near my caliper slides, there's a synthetic silicone called sylglide(I used it on my old Bonneville)that holds up much better to high temps than conventional silicone.

Lucky man, you have access to a lift whenever you want, I'm kinda jealous. Did you mount the calipers right to the backing plates? I'm thinking about the disc conversion as well but am trying to figure out a mounting point for the calipers.

Yes that's how they mount....that is why you want backplates that are not too rotten if you get them used. You can see the mounting points at the right side of the backplate in my 2nd picture when they were sandblasted.

AWESOME, didn't even notice that. I'd rather have disc in the back than drums anyway. But before that I'll have to find out if everything will mate up because I have an ES. Looks like it's time for some more research.

That i couldn't tell though...maybe the es rear hub fits in the trailing arm like the oz fits in the sportback/ralliart. From there the problem would be finding a disc/drum that has a 4x100 bolt pattern....unless u want to switch to 5x114 or 4x114 u can either use a sportback (4x114.3) hub/disc or a ralliart hub/disc (5x114.3)
