evo soul knows what hes talking about, those cvt fluids are ok to use although mitsubishi does only warranty the use of their fluids.
the cvt transmission oil does not need to be flushed until 60k miles, most drivers can actually go to 100k without any issues but if your modded and drive your car like you stole it sometimes then 60k should be the time.... (speaking of which im at 61k :\ ugh...)

i have never serviced my 2010 mitsubishi lancer ES. Is it necessary to change the filter on the inside of the CVT transmission? Or can i just drain and change the fluid? also where is the fill plug for the transmission? i am also getting a low pitch humming from the transmission.

Every 20,000 miles
Change your cvt fluid every 20,000 miles to prevent any whining sounds and also since the viscosity is weaker after 20,000,you want to prevent any transmission codes like mine.I have code if I remember p0171 which leads a valve or vacuum line to malfunction, making the car think it's driving 2-5mph faster than usual.conditions will be different too.I race in the canyons with my sportback GT,most of these things with my transmission I have got some of small issues already, best to check your fluids and your trans daily like every 10,000 just to be assured your components function properly.

I have a 2010 Lancer GTS and when I called my local dealer they told me it was going to be around $550 to change the cvt oil because you also have to change the filter and a few other things too. Is this true or can I tell them I just want the oil changed and that's all?

I would immediately change your cvt fluid. Invest in either Redline CVT fluid or ENEOS CVT fluid.
From a performance stand point and long life stand point. Its the smarter thing to do.
anywhere between 13 to 20 dollars per qt. depending on where you live.
stick to what the manual calls for. But you should be fine all the way up to 100,000 miles to be honest.

Being stationed overseas, I can't find anyone to ship either here and Liqui Moly oils are readily available in Italy. Their website claims their "Top Tec ATF 1400" transmission oil is complies with the "Mitsubishi CVTF-J4" fluid, but it's honestly hard to trust it and don't want to risk damaging the transmission out here. Any input or previous experience with their oils would definitely help out.

CVT J1 Vs J4
Hello,
Myself Dinesh and I am staying in Oman.
For my Mitsubishi Outlander 2012 model run at 90k KM, I was planning to do service for my Automatic transmission, so I went to Mitsubishi Genuine accessories and asked for Mitsubishi CVT oil.
I told them I need CVTF J4 oil, since it is recommemded on my car ATF level dip stick. But the person told me CVTF J1 (S0001610) is also equivalent and I can use for my car.
My question is, is.there really any difference between these fluid grades??
Shall I aceept his proposal for using CVTF J1 (S0001610)??
oil ??
