Car won't start-not getting fuel?

Hey, just had my first problem with my car last night. Had to have it towed.
I was leaving somewhere last night and the car wouldn't start. It would try, but never actually turn over. So I pop the hood to see if something was disconnected. Everything was fine. So I go and try to start it again, it starts right up. I drive about 15 minutes down the highway and the engine dies (while I'm driving). So I tried to start it once while coasting in neutral and it doesn't work. So after a long ordeal of calling AAA and trying to jump it from a cops car and trying to jump it from the tow truck, I knew it wasn't the battery (a month old). It sounded like it wasn't getting fuel since everything worked except startup. I'm stuck here at the house till the GF gets off work, so I figured I'd post here. Does this sound like I need a new fuel filter or to replace the whole pump? And if I do, is it hard? I'm going to search for some how-to's now. Thanks in advance.

Oh and yes I have gas, more than half a tank. The cop asked as well just because some people will run out of gas and not know why their car won't start.

Also, I took the intake off and sprayed starter fluid in to the intake and tried to start it and it started up for a couple seconds. Another reason why I think it's the fuel.

He's talking about the ground wires to the engine and to the chassis. Might be a good idea to clean them off with a wire brush and spray some corrosion inhibitor on them. If it is indeed your fuel pump, it is pretty easy to change out. Just have to remove your back seat to get to the access cover and its all downhill after that.

Sounds like the ordeal another member on here and I were trying to troubleshoot with the problem with his crankshaft position sensor. There's a technical bullentin out on this known issue, and it'll cause the exact same issues! If you can access the sensor, spray it off with cleanser and it should be good to go.

OK, I will try the cheaper stuff first. Where is this sensor located? I can do that. And is that doesn't work, I'll go ahead and replace the fuel pump I guess.

K, so I went to autozone and they said the to replace the filter, I'd have to replace the pump. Which costs $179. Then the screen comes seperately, for another $21. Then in the end, they have to order it for me. So does anyone know anywhere I can get a cheaper or better pump (Walbro) since I'll already have to pay a lot for a new filter anyways?

I'll check that fuse. Could you tell me where it is? I'm not good with finding the fuses lol. And yeah, I'll check out that site for a pump. Thanks for all the help so far. I want to have it running before the weekend too.

Also, with a walbro 255, will I need to do anything with tuning or will a direct swap be fine?

the 255 is a direct bolt in. you just have to remove. alot of people will say get biggerinjectors also thou when you get the pump. But as for the fuse, it is in you fuse box under the hood. It is one of the back ons, it is a 40amp fuse. It is right next to the one with the window picture. I think it has a key picture on it if you look at the cover. But the cover should have a diagram showing you everything.
