Hey guys, I've been having two issues neither are very serious (I think), but both are pretty annoying.

First one, the rear speakers randomly stopped working. I was at a redlight with the stereo on "5" volume. The speakers randomly cut, the came back in with a static/pop noise. They did this for about a day, and then they completely stopped working. I'm not sure if it's the headunit, or a short in the wiring. I've tried jiggling and reseating the wires on the rear of the headunit. That didn't do anything.



My second problem is the steering rack makes a rattling noise over rough roads. The steering has no play, and feels exactly like it did before it started. No idea what's causing this one either.

It'd do that? Would it likely be the drivers side?

Try taking one of the speakers out and Ohm testing it. Its either the factory amplifier or speakers have gone bad. Usually factory wiring isnt the cause of it unless something has been upgraded or changed.

Would one bad speaker cause both to go out? Are they chained together?

On an aftermarket radio one bad speaker can cause all of them to go out. Usually on stock equipment thats not the case. Pm if you need some help

sounds like a loose strut mount or a bushing is toast...how would i know what side it's on? lol

Assuming it is, how much would a bushing cost to obtain (and replace if I'm not capable)?

I'm strapped for money right now.

not sure man, you have to find out exactly what the problem is, bushings are generally inexpensive...

best thing to do is jack upthe front end and support it, and just start jiggling stuff to see if you can find something loose...it could be in the steering rack, but like it said diagnosing strange sounds is very difficult to do unless you're physically with the car...

Alright, tomorrow when it's light out, I'll check it out and see if I can cause the noise.

Also, are ES's hard to add stuff to? Like, I plan on eventually getting a CAI or Short Ram. Which should I choose? They only worry I have is flooding the engine, it being Florida and all.

cold air is better, and in my experience, as long as you have your splash guards on, it shouldn't be a problem, just don't submerge the air filter...and you can hydro shields for the filter or even an air bypass valve...

Lancers are easy to work on...

Also, what should I replace the Tranny fluid with?
My friend uses 5w30 on his CRX. Should I just take it to a garage? I don't have the tools to replace it.

And how much does that normally cost?

it's not recommended by the manufacturer to use motor oil in the transmission...though Honda's do it, Mitsubishi says no...

you can take it to a garage if you want, though transmission fluid can be changed with a single crescent wrench and a small length of hose...
