2002 OZ AC won't turn off

Ok so I have the typical heater switch knob issue, and I bought the upgrade kit and it worked. Problem is the AC stays on. Before upgrade kit I could move the broken knob just enough to take it out of max AC.

Now, I can move knob easily out of MAX AC but AC will not turn off. the AC button and recirc button stay lighted all the time.

Ok so I think I figured it out. Max AC operates off of an infrared switch on the circuit board. When you turn the knob to Max AC, a black tab on the shaft lines up between the switch and turns on the AC. It appears my switch was damaged when I replaced the broken shaft.

My wife's car just picked up that same issue, I need to replace the controls as the temperature knob broke off. If anyone sees this and knows where to pickup the upgraded gearing that gets rid of the problem, and then the control module itself since I think its one piece and broken now..that would be very helpful. In the mean time I will keep looking.

Instead of replacing the whole unit - you can reach under from right of the steering wheel, left of the radio and find the wire with insulation on it. Once you find it, either pull or push it and you can go from COLD to HOT depending on which way you do it.

Simple way to not spend the few hundred the dealership wants to take out of your pocket.
