changed plugs and now running rough

06 lancer es with 97k miles. Changed plugs yesterday and put in autolite 3924 copper. Supposed to be oe spec plugs. Gapped them to .40 per the manual (.39 - .44). Started car and ran great. Drove the car latrr and started running rough and threw a cel. Everything is tight and connected. What could the problem be? Also i noticed when i pulled the plugs out that were in car, they were gapped between .60 - .80 which i thought was weird...any help would be great. Thanks

I wanna say oem plugs are iridium, not copper. What error code is the car throwing? Did you use dielectric grease on the plug boots when you reassembled everything? And while you dont wanna over torque the plugs, make sure they werent too loose and backed out. That can cause issues too.

Yes i know now i should have went with ngk. Either way advanced auto said these were oe plugs. So whether autolite or ngk i should not have this problem. And eveb autolites website say these are a oe plug or atleast .simething like it. Im going to pull code ib about 2 hrs. No i didnt use grease but still saw sone on boots. They werenice and tight as well. Also why would the pkugs in the car be gapped at .6 - .8 and its supposed to be .4?

I think like a software engineer...

try swapping one of the other spark plugs from the other 3 cylinders to cylinder #1 and see if you still get the same error code.

This should tell you if that one plug is bad, or not in all the way?

Buy a plug gap tool. Check gaps and re-gap if necessary.
