idling Problem

I have a 2002 lancer es, and it has a strange idling problem that I cant figure out. normally she idles between 500 to 1000 RPM, But when she warms up she starts to idle high, as high as 3000 RPM. I figured it out as far as the throttle, its like something is sticking as it warms up. if you pull out on the gas peddle while shes idling high, it stops and goes back to normal, until you push on the gas peddle again. I took off the throttle cable and just had her idling for a while and it never idled fast. Can someone please help!

The throttle cable is binding up inside of the sleeve, its not an uncommon problem. Either keep pulling up on the gas pedal when it happens or replace the throttle cable.

Before you buy a cable try just leaving slack in the line. Reconnect the cable and make sure you position the bracket so that there is slack when at idle. This may solve your issue too its worth a shot to try before buying a new cable
