Engine Noise After timing belt, normal?? Please help
So I completed the timing belt job on the 06 Lancer and it's making a odd noise. Loud ticking. It's been so long since I've heard the car run I'm not sure if its normal or not? The noise does not get louder when I rev the motor so I don't think its a bent valve.
So here is the video I promised lol. The car hasn't exploded yet but.....

So I just took the car on it's first test drive and it seems to drive fine. I have blown a rod in my Nissan before and it was obvious, you could feel it when driving. Lancer seems to drive just fine no knocking just a loud whine/hum noise, similar to a bad bearing on a pulley (checked the pulleys all seems well. Besides that noise there is the usual loud ticking (near the injectors) any idears? I'll post a video of a test drive.

""Adjust the valve clearance, how many miles has it been since you did it?""
I just did it lol. Hasn't even seen half a mile.. What do you mean adjust the valve clearance? Remove the belt and adjust it?
I'm stuck... guess I could take it to a shop and see what they think.
The 2.4 Ralliart motor will fit this with some minor modifications correct?

If its a whine that changes with engine rpm, especially under load, it could be the tension on the belt if too high. It would make a supercharger type whine.
If its a louder ticking: did you change valve cover gasket also? If that's not torqued propperly then it might have a small leak around that.
I tried to watch the video but it isn't showing up on my phone.

You did timing belt, did you measure and adjust the clearance between the top of the valves and the rocker arms?
Specs are supposed to be;
Intake valve: 0.20 mm (0.008 inch)
Exhaust valve: 0.30 mm (0.012 inch)

Image wouldn't show up. I'm going to take some tension off the timing belt see if maybe its to tight and re-check everything. Next I guess I'll do a compression and leak down test.
Could you re-post that pictures? cfdfireman1
