P0420 Code on OZ Rally
Hey guys. My 2003 OZ Rally has the P0420 code and I brought it somewhere to get looked at and the guy said it is my catalytic converter. He told me it'd be around $500 to fix and I can't afford to spend that much right now.
I researched this a bit and discovered that people have tried using lacquer thinner in the gas tank and also taking the part off and soaking it in soap and water. Has anyone ever tried these methods and had any success? I'm looking to sell my car for a newer Lancer in a few months so i'm not trying to spend a lot of money.

you can get the "cel" eliminator from http://roadracemotorsports.com/store...products_id=36
it goes in between the o2 sensor and the cat and basically tricks your ecu into not throwing the code

I have personally never heard of lacquer thinner in a gas tank and wouldn't recommend it.
If the cat IS clogged then you 'could' remove the honeycomb inside from the cat that is clogged and it will just be a hollow pipe. You could end up with backpressure problems however, but you should pass inspection
