08 Lancer aux cord causes engine problems?!
I just bought an 08 Lancer. It has 41k miles on it. I noticed that it did not have an aux cord so I decided to install one with the help with my Uncle who does car stereos. We spliced an Aux cord and plugged it back into the radio. It worked great. A week goes by I drive to work and the check engine light comes up. Air bag light. I drive it home and it doesn't want to go past 3k rpms and wants to shift really funny. (doesn't want to shift, shifts high/low/random) Ran the codes the next day and 6 different codes go off such as maf, acceleration, tranny. I cant think of the other 3.
Did my aux cord hook up cause all of that?! I would think it wouldn't?
It's in the shop now and they cannot figure out whats wrong with it.... Just wanting to get some opinions.
Thanks!

Thanks for the reply! Sorry I just now saw it.
I took it to the dealer and they had to have a "professional" come in and take a look. They gave me some codes or circuits and said it was a power side relay issue.
Half hour of work and it was fixed. Needless to say i'm afraid to drive the thing waiting for something else to pop up randomly.
I'm just wondering if it had to do something with me taking the dash a part and tugging on that air bag light. I'm not too car savvy... especially with this electronic stuff. I'm a little paranoid.

If they replaced a relay then chances are it was just a weak/bad relay. I wouldn't worry
A power relay would supply some ignition power to certain ECU's. If your dash or another ECU cannot communicate with another, then it will set off a lamp notifying you of a problem.

Yeah, I was wondering If we accidentally tugged the air bag wire when we took off the front part of the dash to take the stereo out. I didn't know if that caused some sort of error. I was told the guy messed with something under the hood and didn't take the dash a part. That's why I'm still paranoid a bit. I would love to drive it like I stole it... fresh out of college with student loans it's hard to afford to drive it that way.
Starting my "big boy" job though soon. I'll be able to get a newer lancer and play with it a bit. (Those are my hopes) I've always liked the lancers.
Thanks for the input though!!
