Fuel door dampener spring

I was washing my car a while back and getting inside the fuel door when the dampener spring popped out. The diagram in the manual is not very helpful on figuring out how the spring goes back in. Normally I am pretty good with this stuff, but I cannot figure it out.

Would someone be so kind as to remove their fuel door and take a picture of how the spring is installed.

Here are the pictures of what I am referring to.

Bump.

No one wants to take 5 mins to lend me a hand? I have helped so many with troubleshooting here and I can't get someone to help me?

Ok, I feel like a broken record.

BUT, out of over 250 people that have looked at this post; no one can take 5 minutes to remove the fuel door and take a picture? It takes a 10mm socket and approximately a 3-5" extension. Two bolts, that's it...pops right out! Please...anyone??

Ok, so the spring goes into the big square opening, and the little tab snaps onto that circle hole. Make sure the rubber coated piece is making contact with the hinge that bolts to the car.

yes, yours is broken. that's why it came out. you can see where half the plastic clip has broken off. a new one is really cheap.

in the mean time, lift the handle to release, stuff your wallet under the lever, go pump gas. that's what i did LOL

Thanks kaj! I went and got a new one. A whole whopping $3!! Turns out I have a drive belt recall as well. Even though my pullies and drive belt are just fine. I could use a new belt, I have 115,000kms on the car.
